MICHIGAN MEN'S BASKETBALL TOP 10 OVER 10

Michigan men's basketball has a 107-year history with many remarkable achievements, shining moments, and lasting stories that resonate with generations of Wolverines. Over the last 10 years alone, the Wolverines have appeared in seven NCAA Sweet 16 games, made the Elite Eight four times, and appeared in the Final Four and National Championship games twice. The Maize & Blue have also won two regular-season Big Ten Championships and two Big Ten Tournament titles over the last 10 years.

With summer camp ending, and excitement building for the new season, we thought it would be fun to share our top 10 games over the past 10 years in our "Top 10 Over 10" series.

We ended the series with fan voting and the top pick was Trey Burke's deep 3-point shot against Kansas during the 2013 NCAA Tournament Sweet 16! Burke's shot in the waning seconds sent the game into overtime where the Wolverines advanced to the Elite Eight for the first time since the 1993-1994 season. Check out the rest of the list and get ready to witness the next big moment as we prepare for the 2023-24 season!

MARCH 23, 2013 - MICHIGAN DEFEATS KANSAS, 87-85, IN OT

Behind double-double performances by Mitch McGary (25 points and 14 rebounds) and Trey Burke (23 points and 10 assists), Michigan defeated top-seeded Kansas, 87-85, in overtime on Friday night (Mar. 29) inside Cowboys Stadium. The fourth-seeded Wolverines trailed by 14 points before outscoring the Jayhawks 23-8 over the final seven minutes of the second half -- capped by a long triple by Burke in the waning seconds to send the game into overtime and advance to the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight for the first time since the 1993-1994 season. After six-and-a-half minutes of even play, Kansas made a three-pointer to go up 14 (68-54) with a little less than seven minutes on the clock. However, a jumper by Burke followed by a slam by Hardaway started a 12-4 U-M run into the last minute and a half of the period. The Jayhawks made a pair from the charity stripe, before Burke nailed one from behind the arc to get within five (74-69). With 30 seconds to play, Hardaway's three-point attempt missed, but Robinson grabbed the offensive rebound and converted the put-back to cut Michigan's deficit to three. KU then made two more from the free throw line, but Burke made a layup and a deep three consecutively to tie the game at 76 with four seconds on the clock. Kansas' last-second attempt missed to send the game into overtime.
MARCH 17, 2018 - MICHIGAN DEFEATS HOUSTON, 64-63, IN LAST SECOND

Trailing by two points with 3.6 seconds left, the Wolverines drew up an improbable play for an improbable moment, and Jordan Poole delivered. His long three-pointer splashed nothing but net as the buzzer sounded and the crowd at Intrust Bank Arena went wild as Michigan advanced to the Sweet 16 with a 64-63 win over sixth-seeded Houston. The improbability of the moment perhaps countered Michigan's similarly improbable shooting on the night, as head coach John Beilein's Wolverines consistently misfired from deep to the tune of 26.7 percent shooting (8-of-30). The end result demonstrated the determination and poise of a team that never yields with a 30-win Michigan team now advancing to the Sweet 16 for the fourth time in the last six years.

MARCH 31, 2018 - MICHIGAN RALLIES TO DEFEAT LOYOLA-CHICAGO, 69-57, TO ADVANCE TO NATIONAL TITLE GAME

A relentless second-half defensive stand and some special play from Moritz Wagner propelled Michigan to the national championship game as the Wolverines downed Loyola-Chicago by a score of 69-57. Wagner became just the third player to score at least 20 points (24) and 15 rebounds in a national semifinal game and the first since 1983. Michigan forced five consecutive Loyola turnovers during a critical 12-0 run in the second half. U-M set a single-season record with its 33rd victory.

MARCH 4, 2018 MICHIGAN DEFEATS PURDUE, 75-66, TO WIN SECOND STRAIGHT BIG TEN TOURNAMENT TITLE

Behind 17 points from Moritz Wagner and 14 points off the bench from Jon Teske, the fifth-seeded Michigan capped off its fourth win in four days for the second year in a row and finished off its quest for back-to-back Big Ten Tournament titles with a 75-66 victory over third-seeded Purdue inside Madison Square Garden. Following the game, Wagner was named the Most Outstanding Player. He was joined on the All-Tournament Team by senior Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman, who added 15 points. Zavier Simpson chipped in 10 points and played another game of lockdown defense as this time he held Purdue's All-Big Ten guard Carsen Edwards to just 12 points on 4-of-12 shooting. Michigan got its revenge on Sunday after it dropped both regular-season matchups to Purdue, and limited a hot-shooting Boilermaker team to just 23 percent from three-point range and protected the ball with just five turnovers. The Wolverines were efficient on offense, as they shot 50 percent from the floor and registered 18 assists on 26 made baskets.
